Review:

This review may contain spoilers…proceed with caution.

First off, the art. The color choices for the cover was amazing. The pink tint really brought something to this cover where I’m immediately draw to it. The art inside by Emma Rios felt right for the time period of the issue (don’t ask me how. It just does). It paired nicely with DeConnick’s writing of Helen’s personality as a young pilot who has now become may favorite character in this comic (sorry Carol…I’m having ice cream with Helen now…). DeConnick is once again great with her writing and the ending has me wanting to race to get the next issue (YES! Origins time!). The thing about this particular female led comic is that Carol is shown as a superhero. Not a FEMALE superhero but a superhero who’s motives, handling of situations and etc are that of a superhero who is badass. Period. And the fact that distracting…”accessories” aren’t an issue helps reaffirm that (*cough cough* The Ms. Marvel Outfit).

Great issue. Can’t wait for #6.

I’ve grown up with the comic book characters we all know and love but I finally got into comics with the launch of DC’s NEW 52 in 2011. These opinions are mine and mine alone…unless, you know, you agree which will then mean it’s OUR opinion but disagreeing is totally fine too.
